ELK Big Buck Outfitters, Inc. has been developing a unique opportunity for private land elk hunting for years. This elk hunt takes place on private land during September with a rifle in Wyoming. The hunt is on a general Wyoming elk tag, and the Special tag for general elk is 100% draw with a couple of preference points. So, it is possible to hunt elk during the rut with a rifle on a 100% draw tag. We have been developing food plots and water sources on these properties to attract and hold elk. These are a wary elk and not easy to hunt, but this should be high opportunity for success on 5x5 or better bulls.

Big Buck Outfitters, Inc. took a big step in developing Wyoming elk hunting opportunities by acquiring a Forest Service Permit in the Big Horn Mountains. That country produces great bulls year in and year out, and 2011 was the first year of really capitalizing on the Big Horn Mountain lease. We were 5 for 6 on six-by-six bulls, and proved that the elk hunting on our permit was as good as we had hoped. The biggest bull harvested was 380” class and should net B&C after the drying period. The permit encompasses elk Areas 38 and 39. Although there is a random draw option, guaranteed draw is assured if the client plans the hunt and acquires points ahead. The preference point system ensures limited hunter impact and excellent quality bulls. The hunting area is huge, and the terrain can be rough and remote with amazingly beautiful vistas. Physical conditioning is important for this hunt. Lodging is either wall tents we can drive to or a motel high in the mountains – the choice is the client’s and can change in the middle of a hunt. Spike camping for a night or two sometimes helps the opportunity for harvesting a big bull, and is an option that is up to the individual client. Now is the time to start acquiring your preference points in Wyoming, so call for assistance in the process.
